Bacchus: the D is for…

Actually, I’m not sure what the D is for. Delicious? Delectable? Definitely will cause the jitters?

Bacchus-D is the most popular energy drink in Korea. Since 1963 it’s been helping people with all kinds of maladies, from hangovers to fatigue. Among other surprising facts found on the company’s website, Bacchus is even suggested for anorexia and “nutrition supply during pregnancy.” Hate to counter the claims, but it also contains caffeine, a basic no-no during pregnancy.

The main ingredient is taurine (2000mg!), but the caffeine and other unpronounceable ingredients doubtlessly also contribute to the Bacchus kick.  There’s no other way to describe the taste other than medicinal (similar to Red Bull actually). Haven’t tried it with vodka (or soju) yet, but I’m sure someone, somewhere has.

If you’re feeling tired (or pregnant), Bacchus is currently on sale at Queen’s Supermarket (see below). Vodka sold separately.
